How to: Solve “ Missing Or Corrupt System32\hal.dll “

Note:You can apply this process in Microsoft WindowsNT,Windows2000,WindowsXP.

Symptoms: At the time of starting your computer you will get the following error message

*Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt

\System32\hal.dll

*Windows_root\system32\hal.dll missing or corrupt.

  Please re_install a copy of the above file.

 

Cause: The file hal.dll is missing or corrupt or because the system configuration has changed and windows is looking in the wrong place for it.

Solution: Insert WindowsXP cdrom,press R when the Welcome Setup will open. Then type the index number of corresponding Windows you want to enter,and press Enter( It depend on the number of Operating System in your computer)

Then login as the Administrator , and use the following commands (suppose here the CDROM drive is G:)

EXPAND I:\I386\HAL.DL_ C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32

Press Enter.then type EXIT . and exit the Recovery Console.

Now reboot your computer , I think the problem is solved now.
